Network Management: The Next Frontier

Abstract: After reviewing current network management methodologies largely employed in Tier 1 Service Provider networks, the focus of the talk will shift towards what the future may bring based on current research in the area. For example, we will review how cognitive technologies are being exploited to more optimally manage networks. In addition, policy based methods will be covered as they are increasingly being examined as vehicles for linking fault, performance, and configuration management capabilities together.

Biography: Tony Bogovic is the Executive Director of the Internet and Wireless Network Management Research Department at Telcordia Technologies in Piscataway, NJ.   He leads about 25 talented researchers that are focused on developing next generation wired/wireless networking and network management technologies.   He is also currently leading a significant effort focused on providing network management and control solutions in support of a large military communications system.  Tony has presented invited talks, organized and led panels in industry conferences and in academia on related subject matter. His written material has also appeared in recognized industry forums.

He has been with Telcordia since 1985 conducting research largely in the IP networking and network management systems areas. Tony received his M.S.E.E degree from Columbia University in 1991.
