ICT for better quality of life: Ericsson Nikola Tesla prospective

Abstract: In line with new trends in telecommunications and multimedia, a dynamic introduction of broadband services and further increase in the number of Internet users are expected. In particular, intensive growth of the global telecommunications market is forecasted in the mobile communications segment with higher growth in data traffic. Accessibility of faster data transfer will enable the convergence of mobile and fixed networks. The use of technological concepts like IMS sub-systems, mobile TV and TriplePlay will foster further convergence of the telecommunications and multimedia industry. New market opportunities are arising in the segment of e-government and e-business. A strong emphasis is put on quality ICT solutions increasing operational efficiency and competitiveness.

Ericsson is heading into a new era by focusing on its three business areas: infrastructure, professional services and multimedia and driven by its technology leadership, economies of scale and operational excellence.

Ericsson Nikola Tesla's desired position in the forthcoming three year period is to maintain and improve its standing as one of the most desirable ICT business partners in all markets, as well as to retain existing customers and attract new ones while achieving outstanding business excellence.

A good example of our innovative approach to changing markets, business and technology and of our repositioning as a strong system integrator are our e-system projects. Among them the integrated primary health care project (e-health) is entirely developed at Ericsson Nikola Tesla and implemented in Croatia.

Biography: Effective January 1, 2005 Gordana Kovačević has been appointed new President and CEO of the company Ericsson Nikola Tesla. Simultaneously, she is Vice President of the Market Unit Central Europe comprising seven European countries (Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria).
She received B.E. and M.E. in Telecommunications and Informatics from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering & Computing Science. In Nikola Tesla, where she started her professional career, Mrs. Kovačević as a respected professional was the head of the most complex Tesla’s telecommunications projects on local and foreign markets. During her career in Nikola Tesla she was filling numerous managerial posts from department manager, director of project design office to technical director of marketing and sales.
Successful realization of the projects fastened the position of Ericsson Nikola Tesla at the corporate level and also ensured the company to be a respectable regional and global centre of excellence and knowledge within Ericsson.
