Cruising information
SoftCOM 2003 and all related events (Tutorials, Workshops, Business Forum, Cities Meeting, Exhibitions) will be held aboard the ship "Ancona".
Each day of the conference the ship will be anchored in one of the ports on the route, and overnight it will sail towards the next destination. This provides participants with the opportunity to share ideas in close contact with their colleagues and to enjoy the pleasant and inspiring ambience while visiting the ports along the beautiful Adriatic coast.
Weather
In October the weather in Split is very nice, with an average temperature of about 20 degrees Celsius and the sea temperature agreeable for swimming. The latest weather forecast for the Adriatic Coast is available here.

Split
Split is the largest city on the Croatian coast of the Adriatic Sea with a
population of 380.000. The visit of Split can offer the travellers an
extraordinary city tour without any need to take buses to reach the centre.
Even today as you pass along the south promenade of the Palace, you can feel
Diocles' spirit. You can also feel the light breeze blowing from the sea as it
seems to be playing through the openings of the Cryptoporticus, welcoming to
this town, travellers for whom as Diocles said, there will always be a bed,
food, drink, music and the presence of God.
Ancona
The port of Ancona is a natural harbour that was colonised in very ancient
times by peoples from Greece and is situated halfway down the Adriatic coast.
It has become a traditional port of call for travellers on the route to and
from the Baltic countries and continental Europe. The city of Ancona with its
well-known buildings of great historic interest crowns the hills surrounding
the port - the scenery is wonderful for all those coming in from the sea. A
few buildings of inestimable value are to be found inside the port itself such
as the Trojan Arch of Triumph, Mole Vanvitelliana and The Romanesque Cathedral
of Saint Ciriaco.
Venice
One of the most famous cities in the world. Places to visit include Piazza
San Marco, Ponte di Rialto, Burano and Santa Maria della Salute. We believe
you'll find many others in this jewel of the Adriatic. However, be careful not
to be carried away and miss ship.
Dubrovnik
The old walled city of Dubrovnik is a world treasure, a time capsule
offering its visitors an unparalleled glimpse of life in a medieval maritime
city state. Recognised by Unesco as a World Cultural Heritage site, the beauty
of the old city is matched by the vintage hospitality of its residents.
Dubrovnik can be easily explored on foot. Few urban experiences match
strolling down the centuries-old promenade known as Stradun. More than an
avenue, it is the city's main artery, lined with graceful stone palazzos where
people work as well as live.
